AREA GUIDE and LINKS
Acadia Park Kayak Tours

Here you will find links to and descriptions of some of the best places to visit in Bar Harbor and the immediate and greater Downeast Maine area including restaurants, shops, and activities from the perspective of a local who knows the area well and has done it all.

Unlike most website guides for the area no one is paying me to be listed here and the recommendations are based solely on merit.

If you choose to patronize any of these organizations please let them know you found their information on my website.

With the possible exception of the reciprocal links section nobody gets on these pages unless they are excellent at what they do and I can recommend them without reservation.

I was injured on ski weekend in the spring of 2011 and unable to work much of the season. With an abundance of unexpected free time on my hands I decided to look into volunteer opportunities in the area and then decided to share what I found for others visiting the area and for local and summer residents who might be interested in volunteering.  I will update this page with my first hand accounts of my personal experiences of volunteering with different organizations as time goes by.
